Fedi combines Fedimint's federated custody protocol with Matrix-based encrypted messaging and a marketplace of bitcoin services called "mini apps," creating what Nwosu describes as "a private Bitcoin wallet" that offers exchange-level user experience without centralized custody risks. The architecture mirrors existing institutional custody practices, multisignature keys held by geographically distributed, anonymous guardians, but is engineered to run on commodity hardware at negligible cost for communities as small as extended families.
