Singapore-based Bitdeer Technologies Group has emerged as the leading bitcoin mining firm by total hash rate under management, reporting 71 EH/s at the end of December, surpassing MARA Holdings' 61.7 EH/s energized capacity. Bitdeer's self-mining hashrate stands at 55.2 EH/s, bolstered by proprietary SEALMINER chip deployments that achieved notable efficiency gains nearing 6-7 J/TH at the chip level. The company mined 636 bitcoins in December, a sharp increase from the prior year, while expanding AI and high-performance computing infrastructure across sites in Canada, Ethiopia, Norway, and U.S. states including Ohio, Tennessee, and Washington. This positions Bitdeer to capitalize on energy advantages and diversification. “Bitdeer reported 71 EH/s capacity as of end December (~6% of global hash rate), +18% m/m, +229% y/y,” VanEck Head of Research Matt Sigel reported.

Dan Koe argues that agency, the capacity to independently set directions, act without permission, and relentlessly iterate toward personal visions, stands as the single most enduring skill in an era of rapid technological disruption in AI advancements. While many fear obsolescence from automation, Koe emphasizes that high-agency individuals thrive by treating life as an ongoing experiment, rejecting conformity, and embracing difficult goals. He writes, "Agency, then, in my opinion, is not only action, but an undying commitment to iteration. Learning and doing in unison." This mindset empowers generalists over narrow specialists, as tools like AI amplify human vision rather than replace it, granting unprecedented access to specific knowledge and execution capabilities. Far from threatening freedom, such innovations liberate those with initiative to adapt swiftly, pursue meaningful aims, and build resilient, self-directed lives in an accelerating world.

HIVE Digital Technologies is broadening its high-performance compute operations into Paraguay, leveraging the nation's abundant renewable hydroelectric resources. The company announced BUZZ Cloud, a new HPC initiative hosted in a Tier III data center in Asunción, set to launch in the first quarter of 2026 through a joint venture with a local telecommunications provider. The project aims to serve academic institutions, financial firms, and healthcare providers throughout South America, capitalizing on the partner's national fiber network for robust connectivity. HIVE already maintains 300 MW of bitcoin mining capacity in Paraguay and intends to expand that by an additional 100 MW. Management highlighted Paraguay's improving investment environment, noting a recent Status of Forces Agreement between the United States and Paraguay as a signal of geopolitical stability conducive to sustained growth. "These conditions support long-term capital allocation in the region," HIVE stated.

President Donald Trump has suggested seizing Venezuelan oil to benefit the US while denying access to competitors, but experts question its feasibility given the nation's current production of about 1.1 million barrels per day. According to Tomas Pueyo, Venezuela's heavy Orinoco crude sells for around $52 per barrel after discounts, yielding roughly $29 in profit post-extraction costs, generating $11.7 billion annually. This falls short of the existing Venezuelan government's $20 billion budget needs and $200 billion debt obligations. Pueyo highlights the technological challenges: "To extract the oil, you have to first pump large amounts of steam into the formation, to melt the hydrocarbons." Boosting output requires tens of billions in investments for refining, pipelines, and electricity, potentially fostering economic freedom through stable US-backed operations. Yet oil firms, scarred by past asset seizures, remain cautious; ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods noted, "Today, it's uninvestable." However, secure long-term guarantees could unlock new extraction methods, potentially revitalizing Venezuela's energy sector should conditions stabilize.
